Young table tennis players from the Stanwick Table Tennis Club gave council member Andrew Grant a warm welcome at their open day on Sunday 18th September. The councillor, responsible for education services in Northamptonshire, was not slow to take off his jacket and get involved!

The club has been set up by the Stanwick Village Hall Trust to add to the wide range of activities that the new facility is providing to people of all ages within the local community. At the open day both adult and young table tennis players were given the opportunity to try out the equipment available at the hall and find out more about the  range of activities and coaching being offered by the club.

The club has been awarded a grant of £6,500 to help fund the provision of free training and coaching sessions for young people aged 8 -19. These Wednesdays evening sessions started in September and will be running throughout the year to give children the opportunity to get involved in sport and have fun, as well as improve their table tennis skills. The free sessions are open to all 8 – 11 year olds from 5 pm to 6 pm and 12 – 19 year olds between 6 pm and 7 pm. More details can be found on the club’s web pages
